Our cooking classes are for both the novice and seasoned cooks alike, all skill levels are welcome. We share our irresistible signature recipes and teach the West African cookery techniques in our informative and interactive cooking classes. Participants will learn how to create impressive healthy and delicious Nigerian and West African meals together. It promises to be a relaxing and confidence-building experience in the kitchen. Our classes are very hands-on. They are also tailored specifically to meet our clients’ needs. The classes are 3 hours long. We supply the ingredients, recipes, aprons, and cooking tools. At the end of it all, the class sits down to enjoy the meal of their making.
We have a starch, a vegetable and a starch recipe in each class. Our protein is limited to either chicken, fish, or beef, and of course plant based protein foods. We try to accommodate all types of food allergies. The chef instructor will go over the menu, explain how each dish should be prepared, comment on the ingredients to be used and answer participants’ questions. We listen to specific concerns.
All participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes, and comfortable clothing. No shorts nor dangling jewelry are allowed. Guests with long hair are expected to tie back their hair and cooperate with the instructor on all safety issues.
Participants will be required to sign a consent statement including a liability release and photography waiver before class. For all minors under 18, a parent or legal guardian signature is required. Please note that class photos are the exclusive property of Calbra Classic. If any participant chooses not to be included in any of the class photos, you are required to let the instructor know before class.
In order to make adequate arrangement for our classes, which includes creating recipes, advance purchase of ingredients, and the hiring of staff to prepare for and conduct the classes, we have the following cancellation policy.
Please call Calbra Classics at (240) 460-4640 as early as possible to cancel. Cancellations must be made over the telephone or in person.
Cancellation of guest registration must be made at least 7 days prior to the class start time in order to receive a full refund, failing which is the option to transfer to another class of equal value.
All cancellations less than 7 to 2 days prior to the class, will amount to 50% refund or payment applied as a credit towards a new class within ninety (90) days. Likewise, for all classes reserved with a gift certificate and cancelled within less than the 7 days – 2 days window, 50% of the price of the class will be deducted from the full value of the certificate.
All cancellations made within 48 hours prior to the class will receive no refunds or exchanges. In event that a registered person is unable to attend, they are welcome to send someone in their place, and to notify Calbra Classics of the change prior to the class.
If you purchased your class on CourseHorse, then our cancellation policy applies to your purchase. If you need help cancelling or have any questions, please visit the CourseHorse site in Washington DC and contact their customer service team.
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule classes if necessary. In such cases either refunds are offered or accounts are credited for a future class. Customers automatically agree to be bound by Calbra Classics’ policy regarding safety and cancellations. Redeeming gifts will depend on availability and, in some cases, it may be necessary to book well in advance.
Full payment for gift vouchers is required at the time of booking. Paid value of vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase (or such other date specified on the voucher) and are not extendable or refundable. A voucher may be exchanged once, within thirty days of its original purchase, for another of the same value, or for one of greater value on payment of the difference, the new voucher retaining the date of the original. Kids and teens classes are valid for ages 8-17. Entire value of class purchase (for up to five or ten kids or teens must be used in a single visit). Purchases cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion. Tax and gratuity are not included. Paid value of purchase expires 6 months after purchase.
Group Cooking Classes
Reservations for private or corporate team building cooking classes can be made up to three months prior to a class. A minimum of 10 guests are required to run a private class. A deposit of 50% non-refundable charge (based on a minimum of 10 students) is required to hold the date. The other half of the deposit is refundable if cancelled a one month prior to the class date. All classes booked less than three weeks prior to event date must be 100% paid for.
A 50% deposit of the total charge for listed catering service(s) or large orders are required immediately to hold reservation. The balance is due 5 business days after initial deposit. All cancellations must be done in writing at least 2 weeks prior to the event date, deposits are otherwise subject to forfeiture. Single or small orders must be paid for in full when order is placed. Customers are responsible for all order pick-ups as at when due. Delivery, if requested, is at an additional cost.
